    Upon arrival at Muscat International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred directly to the city for a guided tour, where you'll explore key landmarks and attractions. Your day in Muscat begins with a visit to the majestic Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, where you'll admire its grand prayer hall, towering minaret, and exquisite Islamic architecture. From there, continue to the lively Mutrah Souq, one of the oldest markets in Oman, where you can wander through narrow alleys filled with traditional textiles, perfumes, silver jewelry, and spices.     Kick of your adventure with a transfer to the marina, where you’ll board a speedboat and set off on a scenic cruise across the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Oman toward the pristine Dimaniyat Islands, a protected nature reserve known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life. Upon arrival, anchor near one of the islands and spend the morning snorkeling among colorful coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, sea turtles, and occasionally reef sharks, or simply relax on the white-sand beaches surrounded by dramatic limestone outcrops. After your first snorkeling session, enjoy light refreshments on board or on the beach, taking in the serene island atmosphere.     Commence your trip with a scenic drive along the coastal route, with the first stop at the striking Bimmah Sinkhole, a natural limestone crater filled with turquoise water perfect for a quick swim or photos. Continuing along the coast, you’ll arrive at Wadi Shab, one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis, where you’ll embark on a short boat ride followed by a hike through dramatic cliffs and palm groves, eventually reaching freshwater pools and a hidden cave waterfall for a refreshing dip. After your adventure in Wadi Shab, head to the quieter Wadi Tiwi, known for its lush plantations, traditional villages, and winding mountain roads that offer a glimpse of rural Omani life. From there, continue your scenic drive to the oasis of Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most picturesque wadis, where you can walk along palm-lined paths, explore small cave systems, or take a refreshing swim in the clear turquoise pools surrounded by dramatic rocky cliffs. After some time to relax and enjoy a light lunch or refreshments (at your own expense), head towards the golden dunes of the Sharqiyah Sands, formerly known as Wahiba Sands, a vast desert expanse known for its rolling sand dunes, Bedouin culture, and breathtaking sunset views.     After an early breakfast and check-out from your desert camp in Wahiba Sands, begin your journey northwest toward the historic city of Nizwa, a drive through scenic desert and mountain landscapes. Your first stop upon arrival in Nizwa is the iconic Nizwa Fort, a 17th-century stronghold famous for its massive circular tower, strategic architecture, and panoramic views of the surrounding oasis and Hajar Mountains. Spend time exploring the fort’s battlements, hidden chambers, and historical exhibits that offer insight into Oman’s rich cultural heritage. Just a short walk away is the vibrant Nizwa Souq, where you can browse traditional silver jewelry, handwoven textiles, pottery, spices, and the famous khanjar (Omani dagger), all in a bustling marketplace that blends the old with the new. Continue your journey with a short drive to the picturesque village of Birkat Al Mouz, located at the foothills of the Green Mountain.     Depart early in the morning to make the most of your day, heading first to the magnificent Jabreen Castle, one of Oman’s most beautifully restored castles. This 17th-century palace was built by Imam Bil’arab bin Sultan and showcases exquisite Islamic architecture, painted wooden ceilings, secret passages, and expansive views from the rooftop. Explore it’s richly decorated halls and historic ambiance. From Jabreen, take a short drive to the UNESCO-listed Bahla Fort, one of the oldest and most impressive fortresses in Oman. Surrounded by remnants of ancient city walls, the fort is steeped in legend and history, with roots dating back to the pre-Islamic era. One of the UNESCO sites in Oman. Next, head towards Al Hamra, an ancient town known for its remarkably well-preserved two- and three-story mudbrick houses that date back over 400 years. From Al Hamra, continue uphill into the palm-lined village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, one of the most picturesque mountain villages in Oman. Park at the village entrance and follow the stone paths through terraced gardens, falaj irrigation channels, and ancient homes built on rock ledges. This is a great place for a short hike and photography, as well as a lunch break or coffee with a view in one of the village cafés. After lunch (guests own expense), begin the dramatic drive up to Jebel Shams, Oman’s highest peak, rising over 3,000 meters above sea level. The route winds through rugged mountain terrain, and a 4WD is recommended for the ascent. Upon reaching the Grand Canyon of Oman, take in the breathtaking views from the rim walk near the Wadi Ghul viewpoint. As the sun begins to set, the light transforms the canyon into a kaleidoscope of gold and amber—a perfect way to end your day. Settle into a mountain lodge.

    Tracks to the Capital: Off-road through Oman’s Highlands

    Start your day early with a hearty breakfast and a fully fueled 4WD vehicle, ready for the rugged terrain ahead. Depart from your base and head towards the dramatic mountain region of Wadi Bani Awf, known as one of Oman’s most thrilling off-road routes. The drive through this ancient canyon is an adrenaline-filled journey over rocky tracks, steep cliffs, and breathtaking mountain scenery. Midway through the descent, make a brief but memorable stop at Balad Sayt, a charming village nestled in the mountains. Next, drive towards Nakhal Fort, a striking fortress that dominates the surrounding date plantations and rocky hills. Park nearby for an exterior photo stop to admire its impressive towers and defensive walls, a testament to Oman’s rich history and architectural heritage. Continue onward to the soothing Thawarah Hot Springs, nestled in a lush oasis surrounded by palms and rugged mountains.
